I thought the most exciting part of the Olympics was the 4x100 freestyle medley. It came out of nowhere for me since I wasn’t really following the games I just had the tv on at this particular time. Then I heard the quote from the Frenchman Alain Bernard about “smashing” the Americans. I was in and it turned out to be my most exciting moment. Take that France.

This may seem a bit surprising but if I had to pick one single moment that stuck in my head, it would be this one - the dejected/shocked-looking French relay team. More than once since the 4x100 freestyle relay, I’ve mentioned this image to multiple people multiple times. I went from “take that France” to “aww.”

( Yes, I am now all about French swimming. )

Cesar Cielo Filho. The man who cried … and cried … and cried. And oh, who’s that? Yep, two of the French swimmers up there with him.

Finally, my two favorite athletes to come out of these games: Garrett Weber-Gale and Cullen Jones Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin.

P.S. The U.S. Open starts today. I don’t know if my little sport-loving heart can take it.
